Climate Sensitivity is defined as an estimate of the global 'equilibrium temperature' consequent on a doubling of CO2 concentration in the global atmosphere above pre-industrial.

Estimates of this value vary considerably - RMS discussion here

CBAT offers users 5 different levels of 'climate-sensitivity' going Left to Right from Low to High: -

1

  1. 1.5 degrees C - CO2 only
  2. 3.0 degrees C - Charney
  3. 4.5 degrees C - Hadley
  4. 6.0 degrees C - Hansen
  5. 7.8 degrees C - Earth System

. . . being 'equilibrium temperature for 2xCO2 atmosphere CO2. Based on a survey of the literature and with reference to the work of the Apollo GAIA project: -

CLIMATE SENSITIVITY & CLIMATE DAMAGES

The rising potential for these is very considerable especially when the 5 levels of climate-sensitivity are brought to bear.

Here are CBAT Basic Budgets LOW MEDIUM & HIGH modelled for climate damages, each with 5 levels of climate sensitivity as defined above by Wasdell et al: -
